European Union is ready to forgive to Peking
17 April 2007In Peking Chinese foreign affairs minister and the commissioner of EU on international relations have declared the beginning of negotiations about the arrangement of the universal agreement on partnership and cooperation. The new wide arrangement will include 22 areas of cooperation, including power, environment, agriculture, transport, science and technologies. This document should replace the agreement on trade and economic cooperation from 1985, which is now making legal base of trade-economic relations between China and EU.
Before the beginning of negotiations EU representative has stated a number of compliments to address of foreign policy of China. As it has been said, Peking promotes efforts on non-distribution of the weapon of mass destruction, undertakes diplomatic initiatives in attitudes with “astable Northern Korea”, brings the contribution to operations of the United Nations to Lebanon and cooperates on the Iranian question with the EU. Demonstration of good will from Bruxelles should create a favorable atmosphere at negotiations which are expected to be preceded for two years.
The term is quite considerable, nevertheless it is clear, that attitudes of EU with the communistic Asian giant develop more successfully, than with Russia - the EU’s neighbor on the European continent. It is worth of mentioning that the beginning of negotiations between EU and Russia about the new base contract has been blocked by Poland.
The agreement with Peking will serve as the code on which communications of the incorporated Europe with China are based. As EU representative has noted that earlier, the countries used to be only trading partners, and now they are the strategic partners. Chinese minister has told that they completely share EU’s opinion and are looking forward to close cooperation.
