Reebok has been fined for ecologically harmful bracelets
Company Reebok, which is specializing on sportswear and footwear manufacture, will pay the penalty at the rate of 1 million dollars for distribution of the metal bracelets, which contain toxic level of lead, one of which has led to death of the 4-year-old child in 2006.
The company is charged with infringement of federal law on rules of the reference with dangerous substances. Such information is given in the official document of the Commission on safety of consumer goods of the USA.
Reebok has agreed to pay the necessary sum, but it does not recognize its infringement of federal law.
In March 2006, the company has produced nearby 300 thousand silvery children’s bracelets in the form of hearts. It has occurred after the 4-year-old child has swallowed one of such ornaments and has died because of poisoning with lead.
Metal bracelets with engraved inscription Reebok were applied as a gift at purchase of various kinds of children’s footwear at the American shops since May 2004 till March 2006.
