BMW plans to dismiss 5,6 thousand employees
27 February 2008Up to the end 2008 German automobile concern Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW) is measured to dismiss 5,6 thousand employees of the company. Such information has been represented in BMW’s personnel chief, Ernst Baumann’ application.
Reduction will concern 3,1 thousand constant workers, from them 2,5 thousand people are in Germany, and also 2,5 thousand are the time employees. At this E.Baumann has informed, that in IV quarter 2007, the company has already dismissed 2,5 thousand time employees, the total amount of reduction will make almost 8,1 thousand person.
BMW’s personnel chief has also declared, that the costs, connected with dismissals, will manage to company in hundred millions euro. Moreover, E.Baumann has added, that the company can go on additional reductions if the euro remains at the present level in relation to dollar, and has confirmed plans of the company to reduce annual costs of the company on 500 million euro.
Let’s remind that BMW - is one of the oldest European motor-car manufacturers. The company has been based in 1916. BMW operates with three known luxury brands of cars - BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. The company has more than 106 thousand employees. Within the 9 months of 2007 the profit of the company has decreased on 17,5 % and has made 2,68 billion euro - in comparison about 3,25 billion the euros received the year before. Proceeds has increased on 11,1 % - from 36,37 billion euro up to 40,41 billion euro.
