Polaroid stops manufacture of legendary cameras

American Polaroid Corp. stops of one-stage process cameras manufacture. This technology in due time has appeared revolutionary; however, it has not sustained a competition to digital photo.
The company has declared about closing the factories in state of Massachusetts, Mexico and the Netherlands and reduction of 450 workplaces.
Polaroid will keep 150 employees and will concentrate on joint ventures with foreign partners on manufacture of portable printers for mobile phones, digital chambers and DVD-players under the trade mark Polaroid.
The legendary company has produced the first camera, allowed to receive instant pictures, in 1948. Peak of Polaroid’s sales has been reached in 1991, and then in view of active introduction of digital technologies, the company ought to declare bankruptcy in 2001.
At the moment of the announcement of the company the bankrupt the total amount of Polaroid’s debts has made almost 1 billion dollars
After closing business on one-stage process cameras manufacture Japanese Fujifilm will remain the only manufacturer in this market.
