Ryanair has been fined for Sarkozy and Bruni’s photos
5 February 2008Airline Ryanair has been ordered to pay €60,001 (£45,000) in damages after the French president Nicolas Sarkozy and his new wife Carla Bruni sued the airline for using a picture of the couple in the advertising campaign.
Now the company, which is specializing in the low-cost transportations market, should pay monetary indemnification to a married couple. And if the president of France should receive the symbolical sum of 1 euro, his new wife becomes richer on 60 thousand euro.
Ryanair press-service representatives have exclaimed surprise by the submitted claim and have declared that the photo carries “more likely positive” character and it has no shadows of aggression.
Nevertheless, the result of process for air carriers is not so bad, as Bruni insisted on indemnification at the rate of 500 thousand euro. The model motivated it with the sum that she receives for advertising photosession. Sarkozy has initially though of 1 euro.
Ryanair’s board has appeared in January and it represents joint photo with Bruni carrying the line: “With Ryanair, my whole family can come to my wedding.”
Sarkozy and Bruni’s marriage has been officially taken place on February, 2nd, 2008.
