Yahoo and Google are measured to resist Microsoft
Representatives American Internet-company Yahoo! Inc. try to agree with competing Google Inc. about cooperation for opposition to offer Microsoft Corp.
It has become known that management of Yahoo! considers that Microsoft’s offer is strongly underestimated.
Let’s remind, on February, 1st, 2008, Microsoft has offered to buy Yahoo! Inc. for each for 44,6 billion dollars. The owner Internet-portal Microsoft offers to pay 31 dollars for each share and it is on 62 % above market price of Yahoo! Inc. At the moment of closing the tenders on NYSE on January, 31st, 2008 (19,18 dollars). Bill Gate’s company offers shareholders of Yahoo! Inc. to exchange the shares either for cash, or Microsoft’s shares. The Total sum of the transaction will be half paid by shares and a half in cash.
Microsoft executive director has declared that purchase of Yahoo! will help to return to profitableness of Microsoft’s Internet-division.
After the offer it has been officially declared, the general legal adviser of company Microsoft has noted that other companies, except for Google as the similar transaction will contradict the antimonopoly law, can also apply for purchase of Yahoo!.
Not smaller concern in a situation have stated in Google. According to the senior vice-president Internet-service, such merge, if it will occur, can level the open competition, which some decades “were the engine of development of a world wide web” and will cause weight of other questions-if, in particular the combination of these two companies can use monopoly for the software for personal computers unfairly to limit to users an opportunity of an easy approach to such services of competitors as e-mail and information management.
