Microsoft buys Yahoo for $44,6 billion

Software developer Microsoft has offered to get Yahoo! Inc. for 44,6 billion dollars. As it has been informed in the company’s press release, corresponding offer has been directed to Yahoo board of directors.
Popular Internet-portal Microsoft offers to pay 31 dollars for each owner share, what is on 62 % above the market price of Yahoo! Inc. at the moment of closing the tenders on NYSE on January, 31st, 2008 (19,18 dollars). Bill Gates’ company offers Yahoo! Inc. shareholders to exchange the shares either for cash, or Microsoft shares. The general sum of the transaction will be half paid in shares, and half - in cash.
Microsoft expects that synergetic effect in case of successful merge will make 1 billion dollars a year.

Net profit of American Internet-company Yahoo! Inc., owning one of the search portals most popular in the world, has decreased on 12 % - up to 660 million dollars, and the proceeds have grown on 9 %.
