China will produce passenger plane of own manufacture
Today China is going to present the first passenger plane of own manufacture - ARJ-21, nicknamed “Flying Phoenix “. It is a significant step in development of country’s aviation program.
As it has become known from commission on scientific technologies and manufacture for defense of the country, ceremony takes place tonight at the Shanghai factory on manufacture of planes.
The largest Chinese commercial planes’ manufacturer AVIC I Commercial Aircraft Co plans to start assembly of liners in 2009. ARJ-21, the passenger plane on 58 places, will make the first flight in March 2008.
Let’s note that the civil-engineering design “ARJ-21″ is included into number of the most important state scientific and technical projects, simultaneously on the basis of this regional plane a series of planes - the integrated model “ARJ–21-900″, the transport plane and the plane of service purpose is developed. According to the plan, in a year the Shanghai aviabuilding factory will start construction of 50 planes “ARJ-21″.
