Samsung increases LCDs’ production

The South-Korean electronics manufacturer Samsung Electronics Co. is going to spend 2,2 billion dollars to increase manufacture of liquid crystal displays (LCD).
The company has made such decision in connection with increase in demand at given production in the market. The beginning of investments Samsung in manufacture LCD of displays is expected in 2008. In the end of next year Samsung is going to produce 110 thousand LCD units.
Samsung is engaged in manufacture of liquid crystal displays together with Japanese corporation Sony. Now the volume of manufacture is makes 50 thousand units a month.
Since August 2007 Samsung and Sony invested in manufacture of liquid crystal displays 1,9 billion dollars.
It is necessary to add, that the competition in the market of liquid crystal displays is constantly growing and manufacturers go on every possible shifts to involve the buyer. For example, recently joint venture LG.Philips announced about release of dirt-resistant LCDs.
The display will be covered by structure, owing to which it will not be spoiled. Earlier for these purposes the additional covering (however manufacture of such displays was expensive and long) was used.
Manufacture of displays with dirt-resistant covering will begin in first half of 2008. Production will start with LCDs with a diagonal of 15,4 inches. By the end of 2008 LG.Philips will start to produce dirt-resistant LCDs of any size.
