Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez has promised the USA oil on 200 doll./barr.
18 November 2007At the performance dated for opening of OPEC’s summit (Saudi Arabia) Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez has declared exporters of oil that if the USA will continue to force intensity around of Iran or Venezuela, cost of barrel of oil can fly up to 200 dollars.
Chávez has emphasized that “If the United States was mad enough to attack Iran or aggress Venezuela again, the price of a barrel of oil could reach 150 dollars or even 200 dollars”. Chávez has called OPEC to become more active political subject; according to his words “OPEC must be an organisation that goes beyond energy, and it must have political characteristics”.
Besides, Chávez has called OPEC’s members to consider “the interesting offer of Iran “on introduction within the limits of cartel “mechanisms of indemnification” under transactions in the American dollars on a background of US weakening currency.
In reply to Chávez’s performance Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah has declared, that those who name OPEC to be the monopoly manipulating exclusively in own interests, ignore that fact, that “OPEC has always acted moderately and wisely” and “oil shouldn’t be a tool for conflict, it should be a tool for development”.
Before the summit the USA and the Great Britain have called cartel to increase a quota of oil extracting, specifying on necessity to correct the prices for the oil, the marks which have established near 100 doll./barr. Thus OPEC’s representatives have declared, that the decision on increase of oil extracting by cartel will be not made at this summit.
