Great Britain has refused from euro
21 October 2007The Great Britain does not plan to enter common all-European currency euro. Such application has been made by the prime minister of the Great Britain Gordon Brown at press conference after end of the two-day summit of EU in Lissabon.
As it has become known, Brown’s predecessor ex-Prime-Minister Tony Blair has repeatedly emphasized on opportunity of joining the Eurozone in case of appropriate economic terms.
Besides Gordon Brown has stated a number of reasons in occasion of the macroeconomic situation, which have developed after this summer US market of the brave mortgage crisis. According to Brown, the American hypothecary crisis will by all means be reflected in growth of leading economics though fundamental parameters of economy of the European Union remain strong.
As the British prime-minister has informed, in reply to consequences of recent crisis of liquidity in the world markets a three of the leading EU countries - the Great Britain, Germany and France - on results of the European summit has promulgated the joint declaration, directed on reforming of financial sector.
Authors of the declaration have called to greater transparency of the financial markets in order to prevent recurrence of the crises similar recent. As Brown, making comments on the declaration, has declared that the European Union requires reforms, which would allow to expect global deviations in the financial markets and to warn the further crisis phenomena.
Meanwhile the main result of the summit was the consensus under the new base agreement of EU, which is called to replace not taken place European constitution. In particular, the agreement contains positions about institutional reform in the European Union. Besides, creation of a post of the President of EU, who will be elected for 5 years and will represent the European block at the international summits, is being offered.
