Japanese scientists have created a unique kind of transparent frogs
It is known, that we should be grateful for many anatomic opening not only to scientists, but also to ordinary frogs, which become victims of various researches and experiences. However, so severe attitude towards amphibious has already for a long time frightened animals rights defenders. In order to solve two problems at once - to lead experiences and not to anger ecologists, the Japanese scientists have created a new, transparent kind of frogs.
Owing to a transparency of the frogs, created by genetic scientists from University of Hiroshima, it is possible to observe the internal processes in their organism, not killing them. Unlike transparent fishes, which have already become usual, colorless frogs became the first ones in their population.
According to Professor Masayuki Sumid, frogs’ transparency is reached by practically full deprivation of their skin pigmentation that makes them similar to tadpoles. Thus, in process of growth of frogs scientists can observe how together their bodies grow.
Transparent frogs managed to be received not at once. First scientists have managed to reduce the gene of leather pigmentation on half only, and after this experimental light yellow frog were born. Colorless copies began to appear only in the second generation. Besides, according to scientists, the method which they used (frogs’ discoloring) cannot be applied to mammals because of different leather features.
