Thomson has taken $9,6 billion on credit for purchase of Reuters
Thomson has taken the credit of 4,8 billion pounds sterling ( $9,6 billion) for purchase of Reuters Group. The credit is given by companies Barclays Capital and Royal Bank of Scotland at participation of Toronto Dominion Bank., J.P.Morgan, Bank of America and Citigroup and represents interim financing the transaction for the term of 364 days.
Two information agencies have agreed about merge in May, 2007. According to the terms of transaction Canadian Thomson will buy Reuters for 8,7 billion pounds sterling (17,23 billion dollars). The transaction has got support of Thomson and Reuters’ boards of directors and has been approved by antimonopoly bodies.
In the result of merge the world’s largest news agency, which will receive a 34 percent share in the financial information market, will be formed and it will overtake the current leader - Bloomberg LP (now it possesses 33 % of the market). The incorporated group will receive name Thomson-Reuters, 24 % of which shares will belong to the Reuters’ shareholders, 53 % - to Thomson’s shareholders, and 23 % - to other shareholders. The general proceeds of the incorporated company are predicted at a level 12 billion doll./year, the general number of employees - hardly less than 50 thousand people.
