Venezuela has refused to buy submarines from Russia

Venezuela denies presence any plans on purchase of Russian submarines. Venezuelan Defense Minister of Raul Baduel has told that they are not going to buy any Russian submarines now. Thus he has not excluded an opportunity of the similar transaction in the future.
There was information that during visit to Russia on June, 29th, 2007, the president of Venezuela Hugo Chavez is going to sign the contract on purchase of several submarines. It was declared by the military adviser of the Venezuelan leader the general Alberto Muller. It was also mentioned, that the given transaction will allow Venezuela become the leading sea powers in region.
Before the Russian Federation and Venezuela have signed a number of the important contracts, including agreements on deliveries the Russian planes Su-30 to Venezuela and the fighting helicopters, dollars estimated in 1 billion. In this connection the president of Venezuela Ugo Chavez, who has later declared, that Venezuela has found the present strategic ally on behalf of Russia visited this country.
It is worth of mentioning that besides the signed agreements, Russia and Venezuela discussed an opportunity of signing of two more contracts about construction in Venezuela a trumpet factory, which will work on the Venezuelan steel on the Russian technologies, and about the construction of the aluminum enterprise.
