Eurocommission President has called Russia to stop dividing EU
19 May 2007Eurocommission President Jose Barroso has called Russia “to stop trying to divide EU”. Barroso has declared that it seems that Russia treats some members of the European Union, such as Poland and the Baltic countries, in a special manner.
As he said, Moscow should realize that Poland has the same right to defend the interests, as well as France, Germany or Portugal. Jose Barroso has also added that earlier the president of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin marked importance of EU’s unity.
it is worth of mentioning that for the last time political relations between Russian Federation and some European countries are developing in critical manner. In particular disagreements with Poland interfere with signing of the new Agreement on partnership and cooperation.
Let’s remind, on May, 14th, 2007, the prime minister of Poland Jaroslaw Kaczynski has informed, that his country upholds the veto on the beginning of negotiations on the conclusion of the given agreement until the interdiction on deliveries of the Polish meat production to Russia, entered in the autumn 2005, will be removed.
The intention of putting a veto on negotiations Russia - EU was also declared by Estonia and Lithuania. Motive to imposing the veto for Estonia has been provoked by storming of the embassies of this country in Moscow as youth movements during carrying of monument to the Soldier-liberator before the Victory Day. Besides, Tallinn has accused Moscow of hacker attacks to the Internet-resources of the state structures of Estonia.
On May, 13th, 2007, the president of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus has declared, that Vilnius can also block negotiations between Russia and the European Union if the Russian party will not renew delivery of oil to Lithuania. According to V.Adamkus’ words, the stopping delivery of oil from the Russian Federation is the political, but not the technical problem.
- EU countries will save large banks
- Russia has stopped electricity delivery to Azerbaijan
- Bush has called Americans “to suffer war in Iraq”
- The Eurocommission considers the North European-gas main construction as “the priority project”
