DaimlerChrysler has named Chrysler’s buyer
14 May 2007German-American auto concern DaimlerChrysler has named the buyer of unprofitable American division Chrysler. As well as some experts assumed, it has appeared the investment company from USA - Cerberus.
In the application of the company it is spoken, that the price of 80-percent share in Chrysler will make 5,5 billion euro.
Besides Cerberus investment group Blackstone, the Canadian manufacturer of automobile components Magna, and also fund Tracinda also applied for purchase of division, offering almost 4,5 billion euro to DaimlerChrysler .
The decision to refuse from Chrysler has been declared in February, 2007. The reason became the enormous losses connected with reduction in demand for Lorries of small carrying capacity and off-road cars. And in connection with numerous responses of cars losses only increase.
It is supposed that the company will be able to return to normal financial state only by means of significant reduction of workplaces.
The agreement on merge of Daimler-Benz and Chrysler has been signed in 1998. The parties expected to create the powerful company, producing cars of known marks on both parties of the ocean. However, the alliance has not become profitable.
