Airbus employees do not know about own reductions
28 April 2007Trade unions of workers of European aviabuilding company Airbus, branch of space concern EADS, complain of shortage of the information on the plan of company’s re-structuring.
After carrying out of a meeting with Airbus’ management the representatives of trade unions from France, Spain, Germany and the Great Britain have declared, that some details of plan Power-8 on re-structuring still remain not clear. One of the trade-union representatives has declared that more than three months after it has been declared reduction of workplaces have already passed, but the details of the procedure of reduction have not been informed.
According to Power-8 plan, Airbus will fire 10 thousand workers, from which -5 thousand workplaces- are the stuff of the company and 5 thousand - are the hired workers. As it has been informed at the meeting with Airbus management, 2 thousand 305 workplaces will be reduced at the enterprises of the company in Toulouse.
At present moment 57 thousand staff employees work at the enterprises of aviaconcern of the company and 30 thousand more - in the companies-subcontractors. In France 4,3 thousand employees of the company, in Germany - 3,9 thousand, in the Great Britain - 1-1,5 thousand, in Spain - nearby 500 are planned to be hired. Except for reduction of number of workers by the plan of re-structuring Airbus is going to sale 6 of 16 enterprises of concern.
Airbus is also going to concentrate on the basic kind of activity that is “vital” for the future of the company and improvement of its production. In the plan of the company widespread today it is emphasized, that the plan has been approved by the basic shareholders of European space concern European Aeronautic Defense and Space Co. (EADS). Measures, which will be accepted within the limits of the plan of re-structuring, will allow the company to increase operational profit by 2,1 billion euro till 2010, and a cumulative stream of a cash should increase for 5 billion euro during 2007-2010. The company is also planning to increase the productivity on 16 %.
Executive director of Airbus of has noted that in 2006 the company showed successful sales and delivery of production. However, it has been specified that the future of the company will be threatened if the reforms won’t be started right now. Because of delays in deliveries of A380 the company has received operational losses on results of 2006; the situation was also aggravated with growth of a rate of euro in relation to dollar.
Airbus is the transnational aviabuilding company which structure includes the design and industrial centers located in France, Germany, the Great Britain and Spain, and also its own affiliated companies in the USA, China and Japan. European space and defensive concern EADS and BAE Systems are the main shareholders of the company. Proceeds of Airbus in 2006 has made nearby 26 billion euro.
