19 April 2007In order to double the number of Microsoft’s users production - up to 2 billion - the company offers the governments of developing countries a special package for installation on computers of the educational institutions, including Windows XP and Office 2007. The approximate cost makes just $3. This strategy will allow the company to increase not only number of users, but also the profit on sales in developing countries.
Microsoft Corporation has decided to double the quantity of users of production by 2015 - up to 2 billion dollars. One of measures, which the company offers for the achievement of such result - is the implementation of the new program of Microsoft software products distribution among educational institutions of developing countries.
The program has been announced by the chapter of corporation, Bill Gates at the press conference in Peking. According to this initiative, Microsoft will start sales of a special package under the Microsoft Student Innovation Suite name, intended for installation on educational computers. The package is offered to the governments of developing countries which - in turn- are engaged in free-of-charge maintenance of school classes and universities with Windows-compatible personal computers. The package will also include XP Starter Edition, MS Office Home, Student 2007 and Windows Live Mail; its cost will make just $3. The sales are to be started in II quarter, 2007.
As Microsoft vice-president Orlando Ayala has declared, Microsoft has spent 35 years for gaining of 1-milliard quantity of users worldwide and the desire to double this number has nothing common with charity, it is just business.
Microsoft also introduces other schemes of software sale. So, in Northern Africa, Mexico and Romania tests of step-by-step payment MS Office 2003 (pay-as-you-go), when users are offered to pay $15 rent for every month uses of a product are spent. Thus, the computer with the preestablished software can be initially bought under the lower price. Last year the similar method has been successfully tested in Brazil and it has given the positive result.
Bill Gates will provide educational institutions of developing countries with the cheap software.
Introduction of similar schemes of payment, as well as the 3-dollar Microsoft Student Innovation Suite offer, will allow the company not only to increase quantity of users, but also to raise profit on sale of products in developing countries to those people, who can’t buy the computer.
As it has become known, Microsoft will offer special web-portal, which will help students of technical institutions to receive additional skills and to find suitable job.
